We arrived at this pleasant spot called Bum Guard Island (gotta be a story) around 3:00 and called it good. The proper anchorage turned out to be high and dry (the river is very low) so we dropped the hook well off the channel in about 1 knot of current and 10 feet of water. We also put out a stern anchor to keep us from swinging into the shallows. Suffice it to say that our anchoring teamwork isn't yet up to the standard we've set for other boat operations but it will get there. And, I'm happy to say that even with the anchor alarm set at a very tight 25 foot radius, we did not trip it all night!w

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon, cocktails at the stern with shrimp cocktail, and a dinner of store bought chicken pot pies. Yummy. The moon even treated us to a lovely moon-rise.

Time for bed. Turn the generator back on--it started like a charm. BUT, the critically needed air conditioning (mornings in the low 30s) did not turn on. A quick check showed that there was no power getting from the generator to the main panel. Shit. Just what you need after a long day at 9:00 in the evening. Enter teamwork. I scurried around looking for a breaker that might be tripped and the Admiral dug out the generator user manual. I vaguely remembered having seen a video months ago about a very hard to reach breaker on the generator itself and turning pages together, the Admiral and I found a diagram that confirmed a breaker location. Using a mirror, a flashlight, my contorted body and stretched arm, I managed to reset it. Voila, heat, battery charging, all good!

The anchorage was calm--almost no wind, and except for the rocking and rolling caused by the occasional passing tug and barge train, we slept great! The moon cobntinued to treat as it began to set in the west and sunrise highlighted whispery fog over two boats that we've played hopscotch with the past few days. Now, off to Paducha, Kentucky where we're hoping the Admiral is going to find us a dock or at least a buddy boat to raft to.
